JESUS CHRIST and HIS POWER
HIS BIRTH
Jesus Christ is the most unique Man ever to live.
The Old Testament foretold that His birth would be miraculous:
“Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel”
“For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
The angel told His mother, Mary: “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God” (Luke 1:35).
The Bible clearly teaches that in Christ, Deity would combine with humanity.
HIS POWER OVER ALL THINGS
During His life on earth He proved by His words and actions that He is God:
□ He healed multitudes of people
□ Demons were subject to Him
□ He raised the dead on three occasions
□ He stilled the storm, walked on water, creatures obeyed Him.
HIS POWERFUL INSIGHT
Does Jesus know all about us? The Bible states that God knows everything about us:
“And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account” .
□ He knows our every thought
□ He knows our every word
□ He knows our every deed, good or bad
□ We cannot hide from Him!
Only God knows everything, is able to do all things, and is present everywhere — Jesus Christ has power in all these areas. He is God!
HIS POWER TO FORGIVE SINS
The Bible clearly teaches that Christ has the authority to forgive sins, because as the perfect Man He would die as a sacrifice for our sins.
“In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.”
Christ died for our sins on the cross, was buried, and rose again the third day. Because of this He can and does forgive sins.
HIS SAVING POWER
There is hope for all who are slaves to drugs, drink, immoral lusts, temper etc. He breaks the power of the sins that control us, and sets us free to live in harmony with God and with others. The Bible says:
“If the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed” and” the gospel of Christ… is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes”.
Jesus Christ has power to save us from the practice, power and penalty of sin.
HIS KEEPING POWER
Do not allow thoughts of your inability to live the Christian life keep you from trusting Him. The Lord does not save us and then leave us! Those who rely on Him are: “Kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time” (1 Peter 1:5).
If our faith is in Christ, He will keep us in this life, and one day brings us safely into Heaven.
