– And why YOU should read it!
The Bible has important truth for today. Its message is eternal, of universal application, and personal for you. Consider what the Bible says about:
ITS AUTHORSHIP
The Bible is declared to be God’s Word:
“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God. Holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit”.
God caused this book to be written; it is His message to each of us personally. It has been marvelously preserved from early times. This is no ordinary book.
WORDS THAT LAST
All that is around us will one day pass away, but
God’s word will never pass away:
Jesus said, “Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away” .
“But the word of the LORD endures forever. ”
LIFE’S ORIGIN
The Bible tells us where we came from:
“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. ”
“By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible ”
We came from God, who created us in His own image. Acceptance of this fact is important because if we cannot believe God about where we came from, why should we believe Him about where we are going to in the afterlife?
The Bible provides a unique and satisfying answer to the question of life’s origin: life’s ultimate origin is God.
LIFE’S PURPOSE
□ Why are we here on earth?
□ What is the real goal of life, and what are we supposed to be doing to attain this goal?
The Bible gives us the reason why God created us:
□ To bring Him glory(Isaiah 43:7).
□ To enjoy Him forever(Psalm 16:11).
This alone gives meaning and pleasure to life; it provides a focus for our existence.
LIFE’S DESTINY
□ What happens when I die?
□ Do I stop existing?
□ Will I be happy, or will I suffer?
God provides answers to these questions in the Bible:
□ “He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him. ” Clearly and concisely the Bible describes two destinies:
□ Eternal life for those who put their trust in the Lord Jesus Christ.
□ Eternal wrath for those who neglect or reject Him. The Bible says:
“He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead”.
“I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live ”.
To act to glorify God brings with it contentment and fulfilment. Life’s ultimate purpose is to glorify God and to enjoy Him forever.
Why not read the Bible for yourself, and become acquainted with your Creator and Saviour Jesus Christ, and with His purpose for your life.
THE BIBLE MUST BE BELIEVED
In many places the Bible outlines the blessings brought to those who believe its message:
“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life. ”
“Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice and come forth; those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation” (John 5:24,28–29).
Jesus Christ, who is God, became a man and died for our sins on the cross. He was buried, and rose again the third day and lives in the power of an endless life. He shares this life with all who receive Him as Lord and Saviour. Jesus said:
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).
