A Servant’s Prayer

Hear me O God, when I cry out for your help and mercy.

From a sinner’s heart, I am, to the humble servant I pray to be.

Help me to look to the sky and not to the ground for my help and refuge.

I want the everlasting gifts that come from above and no earthly money can buy.

I want the heavenly treasures that are given so freely to everyone who knocks or asks.

Hear me O God, when I cry out for your help and mercy

You are the God of mercy and of love.

I pray that you may loosen my chains, that surround my body

and heavily weigh me down and binds me to this earthly ground.

I rejoice with thanksgiving for what my Saviour, Jesus Christ has done for me,

on the cross, at Calvary.

He died to sin for me, a spotless lamb,

no crime He had committed, but died a painful death.

Obedient to His Father’s will

So that my sins would be forgiven,

so that I would be dead to sin, forever

Washed clean in His precious blood, raised to new life in Christ Jesus,

Made acceptable to my heavenly Father and have the promise of Eternal Life.

O What a wonderful gift that was given freely to me,

On that cross at Calvary.

I pray that you my heavenly Father will have mercy on this wretched body of mine

and take full control of me from head to toe and dress me in your armour of light,

O Heavenly One, Hear your servant’s prayer:

Make me a channel of your love and peace

So I may serve you as my Lord and Master all my living days

And may I sing and bring everlasting praise,

Honour and glory to your holy name, O Holy One

I pray that you will transform my mind and make me think and act more godly, at all times.

To be holy and righteous before you, O Holy One

To hate what you hate, to love what you love.

To look for goodness, not for sin in everyone

Not to be judgmental, but instead judge myself.

Please take from me any pride that still consumes this wretched body of mine.

O Holy One! Wash my mind clean in my Saviour’s blood,

Until my thoughts are clean and godly!

I offer to you, O Holy One! All my body parts I give to you to use.

O Let me be a living sacrifice to you, my Heavenly Father.

Take my ears and open them so I can hear your holy word

and hear you calling me in the night.

Speak to me through the scriptures,

so I may become obedient and faithful to your holy words and laws.

Take my eyes and turn them to the sky, and not to the ground.

Let me see your beauty in creation here on earth and in heaven.

Let me look within to see the beauty in my neighbour’s heart.

O Holy One! Open my eyes to see your beauty.

Take my mouth and untie my tongue, so you may speak through me.

Strengthen me through the Holy Spirit

So I may become boastful and fruitful in some small way.

Let me be able to spread the gospel and speak of what you have done for me

And saved a sinner like me, O Holy One.

Take my hands and let me be bold enough to reach out and touch,

kiss or hug someone who may be feeling unloved or lost.

O God of compassion use my hands to spread your love.

Take my heart and fill it with your unconditional love.

Let me love the unlovable

Let me love the person, but hates the sin.

Let me love my neighbour as myself and always put their needs before my own.

O God of Love, give me your warm and loving heart,

So I may love like you, O Holy One.

Hear me O God, when I cry out for your help and mercy

Deliver me O Holy One from this sinful body of mine.

Wash me clean in my Saviour’s precious blood until I am pure and whiter than the snow.

Then I may be worthy to be your humble servant,

This I pray in the name of my Saviour, Lord Jesus Christ.

Amen.
