The Pearl of Great Price!

The Pearl of Great Price

A ‘parable’ is a story that Jesus told to illustrate a spiritual truth. In “Matthew 13:44 to 46” of the Bible we have two more of these.

Let us imagine a pearl of extreme value! Any merchant would ‘go all out’ to buy it knowing its true value!

God has another treasure in this world. After being rejected by the religious leaders of Israel, Jesus the Messiah said, “I will build My Church” (Matthew 16:18). The word ‘Church’ means ‘a called out company’, for the true Church is not any denomination, but is known only to God, and composed of both believing Jews and Gentiles.

On the night in which Jesus was betrayed He said, “This cup is the New Covenant in My blood, which is shed for you” (Luke 22:20). He told His disciples that soon He would be delivered up to be crucified, but would rise again the third day.

He has made an unconditional and New Covenant with the whole world, and all who receive Him as their Lord and Saviour come into the good of it!

May we all take to heart these words of Jesus: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).

By believing and accepting Jesus Christ you can also become His special treasure.
